Are there restaurants around?
There are small village level restaurants that would typically
serve Tea, Vada Pav, Bhajjis, Misal Pav , etc. There are a couple of home-eateries as
well, that serve local cuisine (Veg or Non-Veg) by placing
orders in advance.
There are restaurants serving varied types of cuisine ( malwani, punjabi , chinese , south indian ) in a driving time of 15 to 30 minutes. These include places like Aachara - 10 kms, Kunkeshwar - 12 kms, Shirgaon 20 kms and , Devgad 20 kms.

Delicious home cooked breakfast, snacks, lunch and dinner is available at village home on chargeable basis.

If I feel like, can I cook?
Yes, there is a fully-functional kitchen with help available for cooking. The kitchen amenities include refrigerator, cooking-gas, mixer and
utensils.

Are there provision/grocery shops around?
There are shops in the village and in the nearby
villages, stocking vegetables, provisions, food items, cold drinks, bottled drinking water,etc. Freshly baked bread is available at Devgad (20) . Kankavali ( 42) and Malwan (30) are the nearest large towns , where most of the things are available.

Is there a Doctor available in the village?
The village has 2 full-time practicing Doctors close to the Villa. A chemist shop is also there in the
village .

How is the mobile network connectivity in Naringre?
A major part of Naringre is surrounded by hills on all
sides. Mobile connectivity is therefore weak. MTNL / BSNL mobile services are available in most part of the village. The same are accessible in
the Village Home property/compound. Mobile services of Vodafone, Idea and Docomo are also accessible in some parts of the village.
The nearest place with strong mobile connectivity is at
about 4 kms away.The internet connectivity is limited on BSNL
network.
However, the remoteness of communication serves as
ideal get-away to create a serene environment far from the hustle-and-bustle of
chaotic city life…

How is the environment for moving around during
the day?
The local population is peace-loving and therefore it
would be safe to move around in the village in the public areas. The village
has a Police Patil (Constable), who
can be contacted on phone in case of emergencies. There is also a 24hour Police
check-naka, a kilometer away from the House, at the entry point of Naringre at
Dahibav, the neighbouring village.One should, however, avoid going into private
properties without the permission of the owners.

Are there insects and wild animals in the
village?
Being a village, insects are normally around during the monsoon season. The windows are covered with protective nets. Mosquito repellent vapouriser is available in all the
rooms . Insect repellent rackets are also available. It is advisable to put the window nets around the twilight hour to avoid the insects getting into the house.
Monkeys do roam about in groups and one should be
mindful in dealing/reacting to their actions. Occasionally monkeys do come near
the House. At such times, it would be advisable to shut the doors.
There are dense forests around Naringre. Sighting of snake/mongoose on a rare occasion is not ruled out. One should
always be careful while walking, particularly in darkness. Walking with a stick
in hand gives comfort.

Is the water safe for drinking?
The villagers drink water drawn from their wells
or from the piped water supplied by the village Gram Panchayat. Fresh , clean and sweet water from own well is available through-out the year. The water is purified and is safe for drinking. One can also boil water if one so wishes.
Bottled drinking water is also available at the village home.

The House
The House / Villa / Village Home is a cozy
and rustic home-stay in Naringre village, of about 1000 sq ft. with an adjacent outhouse of 250 sq ft. It consists of a large living room, 2 bedrooms, kitchen and 4 independent bathrooms with western type WC.
The furniture cum amenities, among other things, consist of 2 single beds / cupboard in each bedroom, ceiling fans in all the rooms, geysers/showers/exhaust fans in bathrooms, dining table / sofa set/ divan/ pull-out double-bed and television with Tata Sky HD in living room , refrigerator/washing machine/ water purifier and cooking gas in kitchen. Back-up power is also available to take care of basic necessities.
The Villa is ideal for 4 to 6 people. It can accommodate up to 8 people .There is a caretaker and help at the site.

Naringre is a typical Indian village set in
a green valley with hills all-around . It is
part of the Devgad taluka, in Sindhudurg district , in the Konkan region , of Maharashtra state , along the western coast of India. It is blessed with perennial greenery. The Konkan rain-forests are home to black-faced macaques, chameleons, frogs etc. that are part of a unique eco-system.
Naringre is situated less than 10 kms from the seashore. Its topography consists of flat land at sea level and hills of about 200 feet in height. Naringre River (a.k.a. Annapurna River) flows along the village which meets the Arabian sea at Mithbav (a nearby village).

Naringre is a small village with
a population of about 1500. This population is settled in 12 wadis (clusters). Most of the houses are built with
semi-porous red laterite stone and tiled sloping roofs.
The main occupation of the people living in the village is agriculture. The world renowned Devgad Alphonso Mangoes are grown in plenty . Rice , groundnut and pulses are cultivated and villagers also grow vegetables.
There are farms of cashew nuts, coconuts, betel-nuts and bananas. Jackfruits, chikoos (sapodilla) and kokum are also grown.

Roadways: Naringre is situated around 480 kms. from Mumbai ( Dadar ) via the Mumbai - Goa Road. It can also be reached by the Mumbai - Kolhapur route via the Mumbai-Pune express-way ( 520 Kms.). It takes between 9 to 12 hours to reach Naringre from Mumbai by car. The Mumbai - Kolhapur route is a preferred choice from driving perspective. Overnight private bus service is also available to reach Naringre from Mumbai. The timing generally is around 6.30 pm from Elphinstone Road Bridge, reaching Naringre at around 8.00 am the next morning. Buses are also available from other parts of Mumbai. There are buses serving villages around Naringre, which can also be availed off to reach Naringre.
Railways: Kankavali is the nearest railway station on the Konkan Railway, which is 45 Kms. from the village home. Most of the major trains have a halt at Kankavali. There is a choice of overnight train or a day train. It takes between 7 to 10 hours to reach Kankavali from Mumbai. Private taxis and rickshaws are available at Kankavali station for travel to Naringre , which takes about an hour to reach . Private conveyance from Kankavali station can be arranged.
Airways: Dabolim ( Goa ) is the nearest international airport ( 180 kms). It takes around 4 hours by car to cover this distance. Private conveyance from Dabolim airport can be arranged.
A greenfield airport at Chipi ( 50 kms) in Sindhudurg district is under construction. This airport will be an hour's drive from Naringre . The airport is expected to boost the tourism activity in and around the airport vicinity.

People
Naringre is primarily a Hindu populated village. The local language is the Malwani dialect of Marathi. The people in Naringre are peace-loving and God-fearing.
Naringre has been inhabited for many centuries. People with 'Rane' surname are one of the bigger constituent of the local population. It is said that " Rane's" are the descendants of , ‘Rana’s from the Rajputs of Udaipur in Rajasthan , who settled in Naringre , in the 17th/18th century.
Festivals
Festivals are celebrated throughout the year. The most notable being Ganesh Chaturthi, Tripurari Poornima , Diwali, Tulsi Vivah, Ram Navami, Dutta Jayanti, Shimga (Holi) etc. Many families from Mumbai and other locations visit the village to take part in the festival celebrations.

- Mithbav-Tambaldeg Beach / Tambaldeg Temple - 9 Kms : The closest beach with white sand and crystal clear water is a must visit. It is a long stretch of nearly 3 Kms and is truly awesome. The temple of Gajba Devi situated on a hill overlooking the beach, is a perfect backdrop for picturesque memories. MTDC is developing a large resort at Tambaldeg.
- Kunkeshwar Beach/ Kunkeshwar Temple - 12 Kms : The Shiva temple constructed on the sea shore around 1200 AD is also called the Kashi of South Konkan . The Maratha King Shivaji Maharaj was a frequent visitor of this impressive temple. One has to visit this place to hear the sound of the waves, feel the force of the winds, see the expanse of the sea, view the sands of the beach and seek the blessings of lord Shiva. MTDC is developing a large resort at Kunkeshwar.
- Areas in and around Malvan , ( Chivla, Malvan ,Tarkarli, Devbaug , Bhogawe , Karli, in that order from Naringre ) 30 to 45 kms away , are famous for its beaches, water sports, scuba diving, snorkeling, dolphin-spotting rides, backwater boat rides. It is also prominent for restaurants serving mouth watering Malwani cuisine, particularly delicious sea-food. Tarkarli beach is very famous and can be reached in an hour . MTDC has a resort in Tarkarli , which is very popular.
- North Goa - 125 kms : The world famous beaches of North Goa including Calangute, Vagator, Baga, Anjuna ,etc. are at a distance between 125-135 kms. This can be covered in a time of 2.5 to 3 hours. The wide range of activities available on offer at the beaches needs no elaboration. One can enjoy a day trip from the Village Home, to savour the unique atmosphere of North Goa.

Tariff
The Village Home is available at Rs. 2,500 per night (including taxes) for two persons, and at Rs. 4,000 per night ( including taxes) for three/four persons. Rs.500 per person per night for every additional person beyond four. Children aged 3 and above will be treated as a separate person. Separate accommodation for drivers is available at Rs. 250 per night.
Food charges are extra. More than one home catering options are available . One can choose between them depending on individual preferences/liking/level of services. The rates for food are reasonable. Breakfast/ Snacks starts from Rs. 25 per dish. Vegetarian Lunch/ Dinner starts from Rs.90 per meal. Non-Vegetarian Lunch/Dinner starts from Rs.150 per meal. The quantity and type of breakfast/snacks/meals will have to be intimated in advance.
Laundry and ironing services are also available.
Check in time is 11 am. Check out time is 10 am. Subject to availability , late check-out till 6.00 pm will be charged at 40 % of the applicable tariff . Full day tariff will be applicable for checkout beyond 6.00 pm.
Village Home reservation will be confirmed only on 100 % advance payment. No refund would be allowed , if cancellation is done less than 48 hours before the check-in time. Cancellation charges would be 10 % , 20 % and 30 % for cancellation done beyond 14 days , between 8 and 13 days , and between 2 and 7 days prior to check-in time , respectively.
Bed linen will normally be changed every alternate days and towels every day. Power back-up is available only for low wattage lights, fans and charging of mobile phones , so as to make power available for a longer period of time.
Copy of photo identification card will have to provided at the time of check-in for all the guests.
The Village Home will be rented as a whole unit to a family or group of people .The place is ideal for a weekend destination for guests travelling from nearby locations. Guests travelling from far away places should plan to stay for a longer duration to offset the longer travel time.
Village Nirvana will fulfill the travel expectations of most. Anyone who wants to : just relax and experience village life, and/or undertake farming activities, visit temples and forts , spend time at virgin/popular beaches , take part in water sports, do bird watching ,etc. can enjoy the stay in the company of family and friends.

Owner
The Village home is an endeavour of the Rane family. The family reside in Mumbai and frequently travel to the village to oversee their farms. A desire to share the peace and beauty of the village with modern amenities culminated in the rent-a-village-villa offer.
